Dear friends and colleagues,
In recent years, there has been advancement of technology in endourology and robotic surgery. These include higher resolution and better imaging quality in endoscopy and TV system, indocyanine green camera, smaller surgical instruments in nephroscope or ureteroscope and improved laser technology for stone and BPH surgery. The new generation of robotic system and different new brands are available in the market. In the era of new technology, we can perform endourological and minimally invasive surgery more precisely and accurately.
The Hong Kong Society of Endourology (HKSE) has been established for 16 years. Our mission is to promote all forms of endourology and minimally invasive urological surgery. After the successful leadership from previous presidents, HKSE has already set up platform for local and Asian urologists to share their knowledge and experience in our scientific meetings and different lectures. We also promoted public awareness of common urological diseases through regular public talks. Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, these physical events have been disrupted. With the advancement of online video conferencing and webinars, HKSE has maintained our connection with local and Asian urologists from the East Asian Society of Endourology (EASE) through our online platform (HKSE OT forum). It allows us to discuss different surgical techniques in-depth and learn from experts. We also provided various public talks on HKSE Facebook live. In 2022, all videos can be easily retrieved in our brand-new HKSE Youtube channel as well. I sincerely hope that the pandemic will be over soon and we will be able to meet each other in person.
Without the great effort from our council members, HKSE cannot achieve what we have now. I wish I can bring HKSE forward in this difficult time.
Best regards,
Dr. Chan Hoi Chak Wilson
President
The Hong Kong Society of Endourology

Dear All,
We have entered the era of endourology. Advancement of technology in the last decade, such as laparoscopy, flexible endoscope and robotic system, has revolutionized our urological treatment strategy, and the minimally invasive approach has become the gold standard in managing many diseases of prostate, urinary bladder and kidney.
The Hong Kong Society of Endourology was established in 2006. Our mission is to promote the minimally invasive urological surgery through scientific meetings, lectures, and workshops. We have provided an important platform for development and promotion of the minimally invasive urological surgery in Hong Kong and other Asian countries.
It is my pleasure to serve as the president of the Hong Kong Society of Endourology. In the coming years, we shall strive to bring our society forward, by promoting training and research in endourology, as well as increasing the public awareness of minimally invasive surgery in urological diseases, through community work and educational talks.
I would like to show my gratitude to our Council members for their devotion and support to the Hong Kong Society of Endourology. Together we shall build a brighter and better future for endourology and patient care.
Thank you.
Dr. Joseph Wong

Dear All,
We have witnessed the breathtaking advancement and progress of endourology in last decade. The minimal invasive approaches in prostate, kidney and bladder operations have revolutionized the practice in urology and the benefits to all patients are obvious. The Hong Kong Society of Endourology is established since 2006. Our mission is to promote the minimal invasive urological surgery through scientific meetings, workshops and lectures. We have provided an important platform for development and promotion of the minimal invasive urologic surgery in Hong Kong and other Asia countries.
In coming years, we are going to bring the Society to the next level. The Hong Kong Society of Endourology will commit to supporting more patient-oriented programme. With the rise in public awareness of urologic diseases, we, as professional urologists, should play a crucial role in identifying the knowledge gap and provide precise and concise information to our patients by means of public talks, informative websites and educational videos.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Council members for their unwavering support to the Hong Kong Society of Endourology. I would also like to urge all the loco-regional urologists and general public to visit our website and coming events and do give feedback for us to improve our Society.
Thank you.
Dr. Eddie Chan

Dear Colleagues,
I have great pleasure to welcome all of you to the Hong Kong Society of Endourology. The Society was established in March 2006 by a group of urologists that share same vision and committed to the development of endourology / minimal invasive urology. We currently have 8 council members and about 50 members. The establishment of such a society is in line with other Asian countries such as Japan and Korea which had such an organization for more than 10 years. This is also in line with international organization of such kind such as the Endourological Society or the East Asian Society of Endourology.
Urology have evolve greatly and become an specialty that encompass vast subspecialty.Endourology and minimal invasive urology is one of the subspecialty with fast development in particular, the application of laparoscopy and clinical use of various form of energy for kidney and prostate, are most frequently appearred topics at recent urology meeting. In fact, there are so much material and experience for sharing that it is more appropriately placed onto a separate platform for its development.
How do we understand our role and our relationship with the Urological Association. It is not too difficult to answer. Clearly the Urological Association will be regarded as a parent society and as such will have the responsibility to take care of and to coordinate all field of urology in general, that means it will have to cater for subspecialty from andrology to oncology, transplantation to female urology. The urological association will run the annual scientific meeting and to coordinate with other bodies such as the College of Surgeons for urology matters. The Urological Association should also play the role to represent the urologist interest in political matter such as the differentiation of urologists from general surgeons & it should support and facilitate all urological activities and happening in Hong Kong.
On the other hand, the role of HKSE will be focusing mainly on subjects of endourology. It will be gear towards training and dissemination of endourology skill as well as related knowledge, so that more people will benefit from the recent advances of the subject. We will also speak to protect our interest but only to serve to achieve our goal mentioned. We will affiliate to the EASE and to the Endourological Society, but will also collaborate with other urological organization or other endoscopic / minimally invasive surgery society, such as ELSA to achieve our objective as set in our constitution. It is however, very clear that Endourology is part of urology, rather than part of endoscopy.
Let work together for the betterment of endourology of Hong Kong.
Best regards,
Dr. Shu Keung Li
